Lounge Here sits on Garland Road in East Dallas, a few minutes from White Rock Lake and the Arboretum. It was built for one thing above all else: staying a while.
Julie Doyle and Good Records
Lounge Here was created by Julie Doyle — co-founder and manager of Tripping Daisy and The Polyphonic Spree — who saw Garland Road as an under-served stretch of East Dallas that deserved a real gathering place. Her record shop, Good Records, sits right next door: the arts and music community here is the DNA this lounge was built from.
A room with a point of view
A mammoth wall by Tony Barsotti — former Hagfish drummer — draws from 1970s commercial aircraft lounges, while a photo mural by Rainer Judd, daughter of Donald Judd, brings a quiet West Texas weight to the room. Casual enough for a Tuesday, dapper enough to feel like an occasion.
Southern food, seasonal drinks, live music
The menu is Southern-inspired American comfort — the kind of food that earns regulars — and the cocktail list changes with the seasons, shaped by the lounge's bartenders. Live music happens here too, casual and stageless, feeling more like a house show than a booked act.
